The Fast Track Child Development Major
The Child Development Fast Track is designed for transferring Community College students who have earned an AA or AS Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education with appropriate articulated prior coursework. To obtain a fast track, students must (1) provide evidence of AA or AS Degree, (2) submit a Departmental Petition requesting Fast Track, and (3) provide appropriate coursework evidence and support for waived content. All paperwork is submitted to the Child Development Committee and Department of Psychology and Child Development for review and approval. Approval will depend on applicant’s ability to demonstrate competency for each of the eligible fast track courses. Courses that may be waived with the fast track include child abuse and neglect, growth and development (conception to adolescence), Adolescent Development, and Family. Approval is granted on a course-by-course basis, with a limit of 10 units.
Complete the fast track core (18-19 units) and a chosen track (15 units) for a total of 33-34 units.
