CJ 3235 - Domestic Violence and Intimate Abuse(3 Units) Explores historical, sociological, and legal causes, effects, and
sanctions of issues pertaining to family and domestic abuse and
violence. Discussion and research will incorporate inter alia,
state and federal legislation on intimate violence and abuse,
causes of abusive behavior, battered woman’s syndrome,
self-defense, cyclical violence, children of abusive environments,
and treatment for batterers. Consists of lecture, discussion, video
documentaries, case study and legislative analyses, examinations,
and socio-legal research and writing.Prerequisites: Consent of instructor.
