BIOL 4200 - Ecological Agriculture(3 Units) Analysis of ecological patterns and mechanisms of agroecosystems, with emphasis on biodiversity linkages operating between plants, pests, and natural enemies. Topics include environmental and health impacts of genetically engineered plants, pesticide resistance, and critical assessments of integrated pest management, biological control, and sustainability. Case studies from temperate, tropical, and subtropical zones are included to illustrate working examples of ecorational approaches to agriculture.Prerequisites: BIOL 1050 and BIOL 1150, or consent of instructor.
