Bilingual/Crosscultural: Spanish Concentration - Liberal Studies

This is a concentration within the Bachelor of Arts program in Liberal Studies.  Please view the information for the Department of Liberal Studies  in conjunction with this concentration information.

The Bilingual/Cross-Cultural: Spanish concentration provides the knowledge base for students who are planning to pursue bilingual/cross-cultural credentials to teach in elementary schools. It is also designed to give graduates the language teaching skills, language proficiency, and cultural background to teach English Language Learning (ELL) students. Emphasis is on addressing the needs of an increasingly international student population in our schools.

Requirements


(18-21 units minimum)

1. Language Component - Complete the following:


(3 units)

Satisfactory completion of Spanish language course work up to SPAN 3020. Students may begin the language courses at whatever level is appropriate. Students who pass the Bilingual Spanish Language Assessment (included in EDUC 4460) are exempt from SPAN 3020.

3. Cross-Cultural Component


(one course meets the Multicultural Perspectives requirement in major)

4. Bilingual/Bicultural Component
