Exceptional Children and Youth Concentration - Liberal Studies*


This is a concentration within the Bachelor of Arts program in Liberal Studies.  Please view the information for the Department of Liberal Studies  in conjunction with this concentration information.

The Liberal Studies concentration in Exceptional Children and Youth was developed primarily for students interested in teaching students with mild/moderate and moderate/severe disabilities at the elementary and secondary levels. Many of the courses in the concentration are prerequisites for admission to the special education credential program. Students who wish to pursue a special education credential should meet regularly with their adviser to be apprised of any changes in the credential program requirements. (See the College of Education  section of this catalog for descriptions of the Special Education credential programs.)

Note: Declaration of the concentration is not equivalent to admission to the Special Education Credential Program.

Note:


*EDSE 4310 and EDSE 4750 are required courses in the Preliminary Education Specialist Credential Program. 

**EDUC 4310 and EDUC 4460 are required courses in Multiple Subject Credential Program-Bilingual Authorization.  They are included in this concentration for students who are interested in pursuing the Concurrent (MSCP with bilingual authorization and ESCP) Credential Program.
