In the Art Subject Matter Preparation Program (SMPP), students gain exposure to a broad spectrum of interconnected approaches to the making of art and the critical appreciation of art. The waiver program is designed for students who wish to enter credential programs to teach art in secondary schools. The Art SMPP is approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and fulfills subject matter competency prerequisite for entrance into a credential program for a single subject teaching credential in art.
Please note that this is an optional waiver program and not a degree program, concentration, track, or emphasis.
