Kinesiology B.A.: Health Promotion Concentration

1. Complete the University General Education requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree (51 units minimum).

This concentration does not qualify students for admission to the Single Subject Credential Program.  Students are strongly encouraged to seek advising early in their program to help meet career objectives more efficiently.  Each course counted toward the major, including prerequisites, must be completed with a letter grade of C- (1.7) or higher.  All courses counted toward the major (both within and outside of the Department of Kinesiology) must be taken on a letter grade basis.

• KINS 4560 - Health Program Assessment and Planning
• KINS 4570 - Health Program Design and Implementation
• KINS 4940 - Field Work or Practicum in Kinesiology

2. Complete four (4) breadth courses (12 units):

• KINS 3000 - Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries
• KINS 3500 - Drugs in the Athletic Environment
• KINS 4230 - Coordinated School Health
• KINS 4330 - Family Health
• KINS 4510 - Environmental Health
• KINS 4520 - Gender Health (WP)
• SOCL 3310 - Social Inequalities (WP)
• COMM 4180 - Health Communication
• PSYC 4215 - Psychological Influences on Health and Illness

3. Choose three courses (9 units minimum) to further expand your health related knowledge:
