Education M.A.: Counselor Education Concentration with Professional Clinical Counselor Option

This is an option within the Education M.A.: Counselor Education Concentration .

The Master of Arts in Education, Counselor Education Concentration: Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC) option is intended for those who wish to obtain a Board of Behavioral Sciences license and practice as an independent counselor in the community.  Upon completion of the M.A. in Education, Counselor Education: Professional Clinical Counselor program, graduates are qualified to pursue PCC licensure.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to the M.A. n Education, Counselor Education Concentration, PCC option, applicants must have been admitted to the M.A. in Education, Counselor Education program and complete the requirements for the M.A. in Education, Counselor Education Concentration, PCC.

  1. Coursework Requirements - No more than nine (9) semester units of coursework completed in Postbaccalaureate Standing: Unclassified may be applied to a master’s degree.  Enrollment in all Counselor Education Program courses requires admission to the program.
     
  2. Graduate Requirements - The minimum academic grade point average for earning the M.A. degree is 3.0.  The minimum acceptable grade for courses included in the M.A. program is a B.
     
  3. Final Requirements - The M.A. in Education degree requires the successful completion of all coursework and passing a state Praxis exam or approval of a written thesis and passing of an oral examination.  After all requirements have been met, the student will be awarded the degree.
     
  4. Class Scheduling - Courses are scheduled in the late afternoon and evening enabling employed individuals to enroll in classes.

    Note: Early registration is strongly recommended. Limits are placed on class size; Consequently, enrollment is not guaranteed.
