All credential programs are accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). CCTC is empowered to change credential requirements without prior notice. The University will make changes in programs leading to credentials whenever revisions are reported in the California Code of Regulations, Title 5, or in other official notifications from CCTC.

Program Learning Outcomes

The Department of Teacher Education adheres to the Teacher Performance Expectations (TPEs) that the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) has adopted as the foundational standards upon which public teachers in California are held. The TPEs “comprise the body of knowledge, skills, and abilities that beginning general education teachers have the opportunity to learn in approved teacher preparation programs in California” (CCTC, 2016). The TPEs are divided into seven distinct categories of research-based teaching standards with multiple skills associated with each. These seven main standards include:

  1. Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning
  2. Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning
  3. Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning
  4. Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students
  5. Assessing Student Learning
  6. Developing as a Professional Educator
  7. Effective Literacy Instructions for All Students

The TPEs also serve as the Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) for the teacher credentialing programs we offer at Stan State including the Multiple Subject Credential Program (MSCP), the Single Subject Credential Program (SSCP), the Education Specialist Credential Program (ESCP), and the soon to be offered Early Childhood Education Credential (ECEC).
