AGST 2300 - Introduction to Teaching in Agriculture3 unit(s) This course prepares future agricultural educators through classroom observation, participation in FFA events, and supervised occupational experiences. It is intended for Agricultural Education students. Course requires students to complete off campus observation hours at a High School, even in hybrid and fully online modalities
Prerequisites:
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will be able to:
- Apply the 3-circle model of agricultural education in the high school setting (PLO #1, #2, #3);
- Build teaching confidence in leading a classroom by practicing instructional techniques in the classroom (PLO #1, #2, #3);
- Develop an awareness of agricultural education teachers’ multiple roles and responsibilities by observing and closely connecting with the high school environment (PLO #1, #2, #4, #5); and,
- Discuss workplace expectations and professionalism for teachers adopted by the California Commission on Teachers Credentialing (PLO #1, #2, #4, #5).
