ART 4090 - Art and Feminism3 unit(s) Same as GEND 4090. A study of feminist art that considers a plurality of feminisms and intersectionality in artistic representations, practices, spaces, and theories. Open to Juniors and Seniors only.
Satisfies G.E. area UD-3.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will be able to:
- List famous artists, artwork associated with the waves of feminism (Art History PLO 2; Gender Studies PLO 5);
- Identify the prominent characteristics and traits of feminist art (Art History PLO 2; Gender Studies PLO 5);
- Correlate the rise of modernity and other social and liberation movements with the waves of feminism and feminist artwork (Art History PLO 2, Art History PLO 3; Gender Studies PLO 5);
- Identify major theories, philosophies, and writers of feminism and feminist art (Art History PLO 3; Gender Studies PLO 1); and,
- Find, review, and assess research materials and author an annotated bibliography, literature review, and presentation (Art History PLO 3; Gender Studies PLO 1)
