HIST 5940 - History Internship1-4 unit(s) Supervised practicum in work situations involving the application of historical methods in various locations including (but not limited to) museums, libraries, archives, government agencies, historic sites, and other history-related institutions. May repeat course for a total of 6 units, however you may only apply a grand total of 6 units of individual study (HIST 5980) and Internship (5940) toward the History MA requirement. Open to History majors only.
Prerequisites: Graduate student standing, completion of one year of university-level history, and/or consent of Internship Instructor.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will be able to:
- Develop and engage a range of theoretical and methodological approaches in the field of history by participating in a professional work environment where such skills are demonstrated (Graduate PLO 1).
- Apply historical knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom - especially using and analyzing (primary and secondary) sources as well as applying historical context, multiple historical perspectives, and assessing larger historical significance of historical events- to a professional and/or public context (Graduate PLO 2).
- Apply knowledge of relevant scholarly historical interpretations of historical events to a professional and/or public context (Graduate PLO 3).
