ANTH 3260 - Human Dimensions of Global Environmental Problems3 unit(s) Course examines human causes and impacts of global environmental problems, such as climate change and deforestation, and explores alternative paths for sustainable stewardship of the environment.
Satisfies G.E. area UD-4 and the Sociocultural Inquiry Requirement.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will be able to:
- Explain and apply anthropological theories and approaches to study the relationship between humans and the environment. (PLO #5);
- Analyze the role of culture in shaping human-environment relationships in diverse global contexts (PLO #1, #3);
- Identify humans causes of environmental problems at local and global levels (PLO #3); and,
- Define the concepts of sustainability and sustainable development and develop solutions and actions to help mitigate human over-exploitation of the environment (PLO #3).
