ANTH 3250 - Anthropological Perspectives on Global Health3 unit(s) Course introduces students to anthropological perspectives on a variety of issues within global health. Students will learn to apply anthropological theories and methods to both global and local issues related to well-being.
Satisfies G.E. Area UD-4 and the Sociocultural Inquiry Requirement.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will be able to:
- identify the key terms, concepts, and issues of medical anthropology and global health.(Anthropology PLO #1);
- apply the theories and methods of medical anthropology to analyze, understand, and propose practical solutions to issues in global and local contexts. (Anthropology PLO #3);
- identify a wide range of anthropological conceptualizations of well-being, treatments, and diseases from cultures around the world (Anthropology PLO #1); and,
- demonstrate practical skills of critical thinking within a medical anthropology framework to address issues of social inequality and health disparities at the global level (Anthropology PLO #3).
