KINS 4550 - Health Behavior3 unit(s) Enhanced health knowledge and positive attitudes are necessary, but not sufficient for behavior change. Course will examine theories and models that assist in increasing healthy behaviors for youth and adults. Consideration of cultural differences, active communication, preparation, modification, and shared client-professional outcomes will be examined. Limited to Junior or Senior standing.
Course Learning Outcomes List
Students will be able to:
1. Define, contrast, and incorporate clinical and cultural influences on the definitions of health, health literacy, and wellness (PLO #1);
2. Identify the role of cultural, social, and behavioral factors in determining clients’ health-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors (PLO #1);
3. Assess and plan an appropriate and ethical approach to health behavior change (PLO #1);
4. Design and implement an appropriate health behavior change program (PLO #1); and,
5. Demonstrate the ability to integrate writing skills with the evaluation of health behavior change program (PLO #4).
