FIN 3225 - Financial Statement Analysis1 unit(s) Students examine balance sheet and income statement using current, real-world company statements. Students also learn to compute a firm’s cash flows and use financial metrics (ratios) to examine key financial relationships.
Corequisites: FIN 3220.
Prerequisites: ACC 2130 or ACC 3140; and MATH 1610 (or MATH 1600 or MATH 1553 or MATH 1602).
Course Learning Outcomes List Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to;
- Use financial statements to calculate financial ratios relating to how the firm is financing its assets;
- The ability of the firm to meet its liabilities as they come due;
- Whether the firm’s managers deliver acceptable profits on the capital invested in the firm;
- Whether the firm’s managers create or destroy shareholder value;
- Use financial ratios appropriately to make investment and management decisions (PLO #2);
- Construct and interpret the four principal financial statements; and,
- Construct and interpret common size financial statements.
