SW 5991 - Capstone Course2 unit(s) Two-semester course is designed as a continuation of the research sequence and is intended to contribute to the successful completion of the Master’s Thesis or Graduate Project.
Corequisites: SW 5990 or SW 5960 (fall); SW 5992 or SW 5962 (spring)
Prerequisites: Completion of SW 5020 and SW 5025, and completion of or concurrent enrollment in SW 5032.
Course Learning Outcomes List A student who successfully completes this course will:
1. Possess the skills to contribute to the knowledge base of the social work profession by completing an independent and substantive capstone endeavor;
2. Expand her/his research skills that will continue to enhance social work practice.
3. Demonstrate a spirit of inquiry that is characterized by curiosity and a motivation to learn about others whose lives are different from one’s own and are sensitive to cultural and ethical implications of research;
4. Apply knowledge about the integrative practice framework from course work and practicum to a research study or graduate project; and
5. Demonstrate the ability to conceptualize research that is discriminating, ethical, and self-critical and needing continual development.
