PSCI 3304 - Leadership for Public Service (WP)

Course is designed to introduce students to the importance of the administrative process, and the role that leadership plays in public administration and public service. Specific areas of examination include the relationship between bureaucratic and leadership theory, organization theory, personnel administration, fiscal and budgetary policy, and regulatory administration. 

Satisfies upper-division writing proficiency requirement.

Prerequisites: PSCI 1201.

Course Learning Outcomes List
Students will:

  1. Describe the nature of bureaucratic environment (PLO #2);
  2. Outline the importance of leadership in the bureaucratic environment (PLO #2);
  3. Define the major aspects of government administration (PLO #2); 
  4. Illustrate how organization theory and leadership play a role in bureaucratic administration (PLO #4);
  5. Evaluate the importance of leadership in the bureaucratic environment (PLO #4); and,
  6. Communicate clearly their knowledge of and insight of public administration and leadership.
