PHYS 2100 - Basic Physics I4 unit(s) General physics without using calculus, Newtonian mechanics, wave motion, heat, and thermodynamics. Designed for general students and for students preparing for biology or medicine.
Satisfies G.E. area 5A and 5C.
Prerequisites: MATH 1070 or 1072 and MATH 1080, or MATH 1100, or MATH 1410, or consent of instructor.
Hours: (Lecture, 3 hours; laboratory, 3 hours)
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will:
- Develop critical thinking and problem solving skills in the analysis of problems in physics;
- Achieve a conceptual understanding of the fundamental laws of physics, and how they can be used to describe the world around us;
- Be able to use laboratory equipment to collect data with the goal of experimentally verify the laws of physics; and,
- Be able to work and communicate collaboratively and effectively in a small laboratory group
