MUS 4480 - Jazz Ensemble1 unit(s) Study and performance of repertoire and styles for the jazz ensemble. Students participate in jazz concerts and study improvisation; field trips and off-campus performances may be required by the instructor. May be repeated for a total of 8 units.
Prerequisites: An acceptable degree of performance skill and consent of instructor.
Course Learning Outcomes List Through participation in Jazz Chamber Ensemble students will:
• Increase their internalized jazz repertoire;
• Become familiar with significant recordings and musicians;
• Increase their knowledge of jazz theory including harmony, rhythm, and form; and
• Become more confident delivering a solo performance on stage.
