MUS 3301 - Jazz Arranging1 unit(s) Study and practice of jazz arranging for the small and large ensembles through the analysis of significant composers and repertoire.
Prerequisites: MUS 3300.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will be able to:
1.Understand and apply jazz theory to compositional forms;
2. Analyze various styles of historically important jazz composers. and arrangers through the listening and transcribing process;
3. Arrange jazz standards and original compositions Into common settings of the small and large jazz ensembles (i.e.: trio, quartet, sextet, big band, etc.); and
4. Utilize and develop skills with computer notation software (i.e.: Sibelius).
