MUS 2440 - Wind Ensemble1 unit(s) Study and performance of materials for the wind band, and for various combinations of wind and percussion instruments. Students will participate in all public performances; field trips and off-campus performances may be required by the instructor. May be repeated for a total of 8 units.
Satisfies G.E. area 3A.
Prerequisites: An acceptable degree of performance skill and consent of instructor.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students participating in wind ensemble are expected to develop and increase fluency and facility in all individual technical aspects of musical performance; including but not limited to:
a. Fluency in reading notated music;
b. Increased performance skill on your major instrument, including all aspects of physical technique; and
c. Mastery of all assigned parts,
Students are also expected to develop and increase fluency and facility in all aspects of group, collaborative musical performance, including but not limited to:
a. Development of listening skills as demonstrated through sensitivity to ensemble balance and blend; and
b. Development and continue work on intonation, that is, playing in tune individual and collaboratively.
