MUS 2410 - Concert Chorale1 unit(s) Study and performance of choral masterworks. A voice test will be given. Students will participate in all public performances; field trips and off-campus performances may be required by the instructor. Open to all students. May be repeated for a total of 8 units.
Satisfies G.E. area 3A.
Prerequisites: An acceptable singing voice and consent of instructor.
Course Learning Outcomes List This course is developed primarily to enhance individuals’ skills in singing and listening and their use of related music abilities through thoughtful and active participation in the choral ensemble. During the semester, the students will:
Be introduced to a variety of musical repertoire which they will study, rehearse, and perform. These selections are chosen to represent a diversity of musical expressions with different historical and cultural backgrounds.;
Know all the repertoire studied and performed during the semester well enough to sing their own part without assistance;
Explain the meaning of the text (even if sightsinging in a foreign language), and identify key elements of the composition, such as genre, style, composer(s), etc.; and
Promote an awareness of the importance of the arts to our society.
