COMM 3112 - Radio & Podcast Production Laboratory3 unit(s) (Radio Production Laboratory) A laboratory course in the fundamentals of audio production and radio broadcasting. Students apply their skill through production of live radio shows and podcasts at KCSS Radio Station. Training in operation of audio mixing, recording and broadcast equipment. Analysis of oral messages and production techniques within modern radio programming. A maximum of 6 units allowable toward degree program.
Prerequisites: Consent of instructor.
Course Learning Outcomes List Student will be able to:
- Create and present oral messages through the performance of a live radio show and/or recorded podcast (PLO #1);
- Apply licensing and regulatory requirements among relevant distribution channels for audio recordings (PLO #1);
- Evaluate performances of self and others through critical analysis of vocal recordings and audio productions (PLO #3); and,
- Apply technical skills for audio production through regular, experiential use of recording, mixing and broadcast equipment (PLO #1).
