Upper division course focuses on Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x familial formation in the U.S. historically and in contemporary times. Through a variety of perspectives, course examines how power affects Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x families within a regional, national, and global context. Course examines a variety of critical social issues and institutional structures that impact Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x families.

Describe historical and contemporary issues of Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x families.
Explain Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x families within a regional, national, and global context.
To examine multiple aspects of identity in Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x families, including gender, sex, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and nation (PLO#2).
Demonstrate how various systems of inequity (like colonialism, white supremacy, patriarchy, and heterosexism) operate to shape Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x families.
