GEND 3550 - Society and Gender3 unit(s) Course will examine and interrogate competing constructions of a spectrum of gendered and sexed bodies and identities. Course will explore the various social institutions, cultural productions, and practices that shape intersecting identities and power relations to enable social justice.
Satisfies G.E. area UD-4 and the Sociocultural Inquiry Requirement.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will be able to:
1. Describe and evaluate the ways in which concepts of sex. gender, and sexuality are socially constructed;
2. Describe and evaluate the impact of the social construction of sex, gender and sexuality on people, perspectives, behaviors, and institutions;
3. Critically analyze and interpret perspectives presented in popular media and scholarly works related to unit themes; and
4. Describe and evaluate how issues of race/ ethnicity.
