ENGL 2210 - American Literature after 18653 unit(s) A survey of American literature after 1865 with attention to the historical development of literature from the post-Civil War regional and realist movements through naturalism and early 20th century writers to contemporary American literary expression in fiction, poetry, and drama.
Satisfies GE Area 3B, prerequisite for English major, optional 1 of 4 prerequisites for Liberal Studies ENGL concentration.
Prerequisites: Completion of G.E. area 1A.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will gain:
1. Understanding of the major trends of American literary history after 1865 (PLO #4);
2. Familiarity with major texts in American literature after 1865 (PLO #2); and,
3. Ability to apply critical analysis to literary and historical questions in American literature from 1865 to the present (PLO #3).
