EDSS 4300 - Secondary Education Methods II3 unit(s) (Formerly Secondary Education II) This course prepares students for classroom instruction responsibilities. Focus on effective teaching methodology for diverse learners. Includes field experience.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of EDSS 4100, 4850, and 4115.
Course Learning Outcomes List It is expected that:
1. Credential candidates will be able to make subject matter comprehensible for students in their content area(Standards 3,4,5,6, 7B,8A,9, 10, 11, 12, 13) (TPE l,lB);
2. Credential candidates will be able to assess student learning in their content area using formative and summative assessments (Standards 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7B, 8A, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) (TPE 2, 3);
3. Credential candidates will be able to support and maintain student learning during classroom instruction in their content area (Standards 8A, 10, 12, 13) (TPE 4, 5, 6, 7, IO, 11);
4. Credential candidates will be able to plan and design meaningful learning experiences for students in their content area (Standards 3, 4, 5, 6, 7B, 8A, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) (TPE 8, 9);
5. Credential candidates will be able to create and maintain effective environments for student learning (Standards 3, 4, 5, 6, 7B, 8A, 9, I 0, 11, 12, I 3)(TPE I 0, II);
6. Credential candidates will be able to develop their pedagogy through participation in professional development events at their school site, educational conferences, and university sponsored workshops (Standards I, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7B, 8A, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) (TPE 12, 13).
