EDMS 4190 - Student Teaching Practicum I4 unit(s) Students are assigned to a diverse classroom for eight weeks under the supervision of a cooperating teacher to practice the skills learned in the Multiple Subject Credential Program courses. Students begin by observing the cooperating teacher and gradually assume more responsibility beginning with teaching small groups and then whole class lessons. Open to Multiple Subject Credential Program only.
Prerequisites: Completion of Credential Program courses and admission to student teaching.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will: 1. Plan lessons that are appropriate to the child’s level of development, skill level and attitude toward the subject matter to be learned; 2. Apply theories of learning in the planning and delivery of lessons in co-teaching context; 3. Use the California Frameworks and Content Standards to plan and deliver lessons that employ various models of teaching, as appropriate for the students and the subject matter; 4. Employ various forms of assessment to determine students’ prior skills and to determine what they are learning at each step in the delivery of the lesson; and, 5. Reflect daily on lessons observed and lessons taught analyzing the choice of the teachers observed or their own choices.
