ECON 4335 - Political Economy (WP)4 unit(s) Analyzes competing views of government’s role in a market economy. After reviewing a variety of exchange and intervention alternatives, such issues as inequality, law and order, political-industrial organization, and the environment are discussed.
Satisfies upper-division writing proficiency requirement.
Course Learning Outcomes List The purpose of this course is:
- To understand the significance of markets;
- To anticipate and explain the effects of market interventions;
- To understand the role of the political process in a market economy;
- To have a clear understanding of the impact which the abandonment of free markets can have; and
- To clearly communicate ideas, opinions and reasoning in writing.
