CJ 4700 - Youth Mentoring3 unit(s) Via lecture, discussion, and actual field experience, students will gain expertise in mentoring at-risk youths.
Prerequisites: CJ 2250 and CJ 2280, or consent of instructor.
Course Learning Outcomes List Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to identify the characteristics of at-risk youths, and understand the challenges and problems these youths tend to face;
2. Students will be able to identify programs and resources available to assist at-risk youths;
3. Students will be able to articulate strategies for mentoring at-risk youths; and
4. Students will gain personal experience in helping young people.
