CHEM 4400 - Biochemistry I3 unit(s) Basic chemistry of proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates. An introduction to enzymology and biochemical thermodynamics is also included.
Prerequisites: CHEM 3020 with a C- or better.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will gain an understanding of:
• Acid base chemistry and buffers;
• Amino acids, peptides and protein;
• Protein structure and the relationship between structure and function;
• Enzyme kinetics and mechanisms;
• Regulation of biochemical reactions;
