CDEV 3240 - Human Development II: Adolescence3 unit(s) (Offered under the subjects PSYC and CDEV) Examines basic developmental issues in adolescent development, including physical and psychological effects of puberty; cognitive, social, and personality development; and psycho-social problems. Discussion of current developmental research and application.

Course Learning Outcomes List Students will:
1. Identify major developmental changes in various domains of development including physical, cognitive, social and emotional;
2. Describe the various research methodologies utilized in developmental research;
3. Describe the major theories of development and how they apply to different developmental phenomena;
4. Explain how development is influenced by historical, economic, social and cultural factors;
5. Understand the important issues facing adolescence - identity formation, sexuality, substance use, violence to name a few; and
6. Understand the complex relationship between research, theory, and practice, especially as this applies to home and school settings.
