BUS 2090 - Ethics and Social Responsibility for Businesses and Businesspeople

Course provides an initial exposure to theories of ethics, structured decision-making, and the concepts of social responsibility. This is a service learning course.

Satisfies G.E. area 4B.

Prerequisites: Completion of 1A and 1C G.E. requirements.

Course Learning Outcomes List
Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Identify and explain one or more structured decision-making models commonly used in the business world;
  2. Recognize, analyze and evaluate scenarios involving ethical issues in business decision-making;
  3. Briefly describe the major philosophic perspectives on ethics and social responsibility;
  4. Develop and explain their personal perspectives on the nature of the obligations each of us have to others;
  5. Demonstrate their ability to interact with members of the community as service providers as well as consumers;
  6. Identify and reflect upon the learning moments in their service activities; and,
  7. Enunciate and provide support for their personal perspectives on corporate social responsibility.
