BIOL 3680 - Ecology4 unit(s) Basic interrelationships of plants and animals within their physical environments.
Prerequisites: BIOL 1050 and BIOL 1150 (or equivalent introductory series) and CHEM 1100 and CHEM 1110 with grades of C- or higher and MATH 1600, MATH 1602, MATH 1610, MATH 1410, or MATH 1910 or equivalents.
Hours: (Lecture, 3 hours; laboratory, 3 hours; field trips)
Course Learning Outcomes List The purpose of this course is to give the student a comprehensive understanding of the importance of these phenomena:
- local & geographic distribution of organisms;
- regional variations in the abundance of organisms;
- temporal changes in occurrence, abundance, & activities of organisms;
- interrelations between organisms in populations and communities;
- behavior of organisms under natural conditions; and
- biological productivity of nature and how this may best serve mankind.
