ANTH 4030 - Visual Anthropology4 unit(s) Course examines cultural representation through historical and contemporary visual media. Using anthropological frameworks, students produce ethnographic films.
Course Learning Outcomes List Students will be able to:
- Interpret major visual elements of cultures through a multidisciplinary framework. (PLO #1);
- Evaluate research methods, theoretical approaches, and tools that guide visual anthropologists in their inquiries. (PLO #6; PLO #5);
- Demonstrate competencies in ethnographic interview techniques (technical and qualitative) germane to the production of ethnographic films. (PLO #4; PLO #6); and,
- Construct visual narratives supported by anthropological underpinnings and present those productions for peer review. (PLO #4; PLO #6; PLO #3).
