AGST 3100 - Agricultural Labor3 unit(s) (Formerly Leadership and Labor Issues in Agriculture) An analysis of labor markets with a focus on U.S. and global agriculture. Topics include farm labor market dynamics, the history of immigrant labor in the U.S. farm sector and the impact of immigration policies, sources of farm labor risk, strategies and best human resource practices for managing labor on the farm and federal and state laws governing agricultural employment, including farmworker health and safety.

Course Learning Outcomes List Students will be able to:
- Evaluate the historical role of immigrant labor in the U.S. farm sector (PLO #4);
- Assess the impact of immigration policies on farm labor markets (PLO #4);
- Apply best practices in human resource management to enhance farmworker productivity (PLO #2);
- Analyze labor laws shaping agricultural employment (PLO #2); and,
- Examine federal and state regulations safeguarding farmworker health and safety (PLO #2).
