EDSS 5110 - Advanced Multilingual Education in Secondary Schools3 unit(s) Focus on language development in grades 6-12, emphasizing cultural and linguistic strengths to create inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist instruction. Explore language’s cultural origins and politics, addressing student and teacher needs in a pluralistic society. Learn to design accessible, standards-aligned lessons, establish inclusive classrooms, and use equitable assessments. Reflecting on teaching practices through a social justice lens and engaging in scholarship to advance equity and inclusion in K-12 education are emphasized.
This course satisfies the course requirement for the Master of Arts in Teaching program.
