EDUC 4301 - Foundations, Methods, & Approaches of English Language Development3 unit(s) EDML 5400: Theory of Multilingual Education This class is a post-baccalaureate course that focuses on the underpinnings of English Language Development (ELD) and the juncture where theory leads to praxis. This is one of four courses in a series leading to the California Teachers of English Learner (CTEL) authorization for pre-service and in-service teachers. This course addresses the California Teachers of English Language Standard 7 (Foundations of ELD & Content Instruction) and Standard 8 (Approaches & Methods of ELD & Content Instruction). May require K-12 student observations in public schools; must have access to K-12 students; course may be repeated up to 3 times for a total of 3 units
This course satisfies the requirements of Standards 7 & 8 of the CTEL Authorization requirements established by the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
Prerequisites: Must be either pre-service teacher credential candidate in TED or an in-service teacher seeking CTEL authorization.
Hours: 3 lecture hours
