GEOL 4490 - Field Geology Methods2 unit(s) This is a short introduction to the methods used by geologists in the field. Subject matter includes: use of the compass to record structural attitudes, and determine location on a topographic map; describing outcrops; establishing stratigraphy; describing different types of rocks, faults, and folds; and creating geologic maps and cross sections. Designed specifically for Geology majors.
Elective for the Geology major. List A.
Prerequisites: GEOL 4360 Structural Geology, GEOL 4200 Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, and GEOL 4380 Sedimentary Rocks and Depositional Environments, or consent of the instructor.
