COMM 3500 - Digital Content Design and Analysis in Communication Industries3 unit(s) Web Design and Analysis This production-focused course is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in a communication-based profession (e.g., Social Media Management, Strategic Communication Specialist, Content Creator, Public Relations). Through the lens of strategic communication and incorporating usability and universal design, students will use industry standard tools (i.e., Adobe Express), and learn fundamental digital design principles (e.g., typography, composition), the importance of audience analysis, branding, and the creation of various digital assets for web and social media. With an emphasis on experiential learning, students will work with hypothetical clients, including AI-driven programmed chatbots simulating real-world scenarios, analyze their communication needs, to develop original digital content, across multiple platforms, that address specific communication goals. Projects will emphasize effective messaging strategies, audience analysis, and the creation of visually engaging content.
Will satisfy a Strategic and Professional elective with the major.
Prerequisites: Junior standing or consent of instructor.
