ECEC 4101 - Science of Learning3 unit(s) Prepares teacher candidates to connect early development (typical and atypical), family, cultural, and contextual factors, with the science of learning in ways that support meaningful and differentiated learning. Research-supported best practices of developmentally appropriate and engaging learning strategies will be explored and practiced. The design of learning experiences may be informed by parents/guardians and will take into consideration children’s assets, developmental needs, prior experiences and interests, funds of knowledge, language, and sociocultural backgrounds. Emphasis will be on enhancing learning through building strong relationships, equity, instructional adaptations, student collaboration, and reflection.
Prerequisites: Admission to Early Childhood Education Credential (ECEC) program.
