ART 4552 - Contemporary Art3 unit(s) An international examination of global contemporary art, locating its origins in the social upheaval and shifting artistic practices post-World War II. The course explores the emergence of multimedia, performance, video, installation art, site-specific practices, and contemporary photography. Specifically, it considers how contemporary artists engage critically with the legacy of modernism, unveiling in turn its ties to colonialism, exploitation, and violence.
Prerequisites: ART 2520 or ART 4545 or ART 4548.
