ANTH 4630 - Museum Collections Management3 unit(s) Designed to provide students with practical, hands-on experience in object care, management, and preservation. Geared toward students interested in museums and curious about museum careers. The course serves as an introduction to museums and museum studies by focusing on collections care in fields as diverse as history, anthropology, archaeology and art. Using short lectures, discussion, laboratory exercises, and field trips, students will explore the functions of museums, the roles and responsibilities of the individuals who work in them, and the practical and ethical aspects of the management of collections.
Prerequisites: ANTH 2060 or 2090 recommended.
Hours: (Lecture, 2 hours; laboratory, 2 hours)
