GEND 4080 - Women and Gender in the History of Art II: Global and Transnational Contexts3 unit(s) (Offered under the subjects ART and GEND) Examination of gender, sexuality, and the roles of women and queer artists of color in cultural production within the visual arts outside of Europe. A historical survey, focusing on a global context and covering women, queer, and feminist artists in the history of art and representations of gender from ancient times to the present. Course will also engage philosophical inquiries, such as postcolonial, feminist, and queer theories.
Satisfies G.E. area UD-C and the Multicultural Requirement. Upper Division G.E. courses are designed to be taken after upper-division status (completion of 60 semester units) is attained.
