ART 4070 - Women and Gender in the History of Art I: Europe and the United States3 unit(s) (Offered under the subjects ART and GEND) Examination of gender, sexuality, and the roles of women in cultural production within the visual arts. A historical survey, focusing on Europe and the United States and covering women, lesbian, and feminist artists in the history or art and representations of gender from antiquity to the present. Course will also engage philosophical inquiries, such as feminist and queer theories.
Satisfies G.E. area UD-C. Upper Division G.E. courses are designed to be taken after upper-division status (completion of 60 semester units) is attained.
