EDMS 4111 - Reading/Language Arts Methods: Bilingual Instruction in English and Spanish5 unit(s) Reading Methods Spanish Bilingual Course addresses the principles and practices for teaching reading/language arts in Spanish bilingual classrooms in grades K-8 with an emphasis in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Course is taught in English and Spanish and utilizes Foreign Language across the Curriculum (FLAC) approaches and methods in order to assure high degrees of academic language development in the target language as well as scaffold the delivery of the academic content of the course. See appendix for Rationale for Foreign Language Across the Curriculum. Open to Teacher Education Graduates Only.
Prerequisites:
- Admission to the Multiple Subjects Credential program and/or consent of the instructor.
- Bilingual and Biliterate in Spanish equivalent to third year Spanish or native like language proficiency and/or consent of the instructor.
