CJ 3125 - Moot Court3 unit(s) Course prepares students for an undergraduate moot court competition in which they will deliver appellate arguments based on a hypothetical case with constitutional law issues that may be argued before the Supreme Court of the United States. It is designed to help students develop public speaking and analytical skills. Course will involve discussion of court cases, brainstorming sessions to help develop arguments, sessions addressing public speaking and style, and practice sessions in which students present arguments, respond to questioning, and grill and provide feedback to other students. Students will develop, prepare and practice their arguments in class and compete against others students and, when appropriate, from other schools in regional and national competitions that are judged by law school students, professors and local attorneys and judges. Repeatable for a total of six units, but only 3 units can be applied for credit as a Criminal Justice B.A. elective.
Prerequisites: CJ 2250 and 2280 or consent of instructor.
