NSCI 2300 - Introduction to Science and Scientific Research

(2 Units)
Course focuses on the culture and methods of scientific research.  Students will learn about experimental design, library resources, good record keeping, how to write reports, and how to read and present scientific literature.  Students will become familiar with the basic processes of science and how science is practiced.  Each student will design and conduct a library project.  During this process, students will learn how to craft scientific questions and hypotheses, will review research design and data analysis and interpretation.  Students will present a poster and practice oral presentations.  One two-hour class per week.

Prerequisites: Consent of instructor; ELM minimum score of 50, unless exempt, or completion of MATH 0106 or MATH 0110 or their equivalent with a C or higher.
