Roadmap: B.A. in English, Subject Matter Preparation Program for Transfers


***FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS ***

Recommendations for Community College Transfers
1. The following General Education courses or their equivalents are required for the Subject Matter Preparation Program: COMM 2000 Public Speaking (GE Area A1), COMM 2200 Introduction to Mass Media (GE Area D2a), and THEA 1010 Introduction to Theatre (GE Area C1)

2. The following lower division requirements or their equivalents are required:

a. One course must come from the British:
ENGL 2100 - British Literature to 1800
ENGL 2110 - British Literature after 1800

b. One course must come from the American:
ENGL 2200 - American Literature to 1865
ENGL 2210 - American Literature after 1865

c. One course must be pre-1850:
ENGL 2100 - British Literature to 1800
ENGL 2200 - American Literature to 1865

By completing the following Roadmap, you will earn a BA in English (Subject Matter Prep). Students should have completed a two-year Transfer with Associate’s Degree program, or a minimum of 60 units completing GE Areas A through E.

In order to complete the Subject Matter Preparation Program for English, students must have a 2.75 cumulative GPA in their final semester.

This Roadmap is a recommended advising map to complete the degree program in two years. Please consult your academic advisor as you develop your academic plan.
